Copies of typed documents relating to Cherokee National Council Senate bill number twenty-six, "An Act Making an Appropriation to Reimburse J. C. Starr for expenses incurred while acting as stenographer for the Cherokee Nation in the making of the final roll of citizens of the Cherokee Nation." Included is the signed report of the Committee on Claims (December 3, 1902); a letter signed by the attorney for the Cherokee Nation, W. W. Hastings (December 3, 1902); the notarized and signed petition of J. C. Starr (December 3, 1902); and the act signed by T. M. Buffington, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation and other officials (December 3, 5, and 6, 1902). Also present is an original printed form completed in manuscript by which Buffington submitted the documents for approval by President Roosevelt. The form is signed by Buffington, J. T. Parker, Executive Secretary, dated December 6, 1902, and was approved and signed by Theodore Roosevelt on January 28, 1903.
